rr diagnose scans a log for failures it already knows. Matching is literal
or regex, so a card in its output comes from a recorded pattern, not from an
LLM. The separate --auto mode does use one.
Local rr diagnose is part of the daily flow on the
commercial use page, and needs no licence key.
Capture the failure
nvc --std=1993 -a uart_tx.vhd > nvc.log 2>&1
The file reads its own output port, which VHDL-93 rejects.
Scan the log
rr diagnose --log nvc.log
The card names the signature that matched, the cause and the fix.
Exit codes
| Code | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 0 | One or more known failures matched |
| 1 | The log could not be read, or none found |
| 2 | The log was read and nothing known matched |
Result
A code 2 means the corpus has no entry for that log. It says nothing about whether the log is healthy.
Under VHDL-2008, the same file analyzes cleanly, as the end of the recording shows.
